Here's what happened today.
**DSA candidates win primaries on a plan to nationalize industry** Democratic Socialists of America candidates picked up wins in the 2026 midterm primaries. Their platform calls for public ownership of major corporations and a 32 hour workweek. Adam Lehodey of the Manhattan Institute says nationalizing corporations would run into the billions, and that accountability shifts from shareholders to government officials. Republicans plan to make this a theme at their convention in Dallas.
**Muslim voters back El-Sayed even where they disagree with him** Abdul El-Sayed is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan. Fox News Digital spoke with attendees at the Islamic Society of North America convention, where he gave the keynote. One attendee called him "a Democrat with a Muslim mask" and compared him to Ilhan Omar. That same voter objects to El-Sayed on abortion and on LGBTQ policy, and still wants him to win.
**A 2019 clip resurfaces on the Texas Senate race** James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for Senate in Texas, told a 2019 committee hearing that refusing to affirm a child's gender identity is "abusive for sure." He opposed House Bill 1910, which would have kept family courts from treating that refusal as evidence of abuse in custody cases. A stronger version became law in May 2025 over his objection. He was one of 59 nay votes.
