The winery co-owned by Representative Ilhan Omar's husband shut down last April. House Oversight Chair James Comer confirmed this on Fox News. He stated the business closed amid serious fraud claims. This news arrives as federal investigators look into Omar's finances. Comer told host Trey Gowdy that the winery sold empty barrels. Investors thought they were buying wine to age over time.

Comer pointed out a huge gap in Omar's financial forms. In 2023, she listed her stake as worth fifteen to fifty thousand dollars. One year later, that same stake was valued at one to five million dollars. Comer said this sudden jump in value raises big questions. He noted that such errors could justify a search warrant.

The winery, called eStCru, was founded in 2020 by Tim Mynett. It operated out of California and gained some industry attention. Wine Business magazine named it a hot brand in 2022. However, the business closed just weeks after Comer sent a letter. Comer asked Mynett to explain the rapid increase in value.

Omar previously claimed the large discrepancy was an accounting mistake. She told The Wall Street Journal in April that her net worth is low. She stated she and her husband have less than one hundred thousand dollars. This figure contradicts the earlier disclosure that listed millions in assets.

Federal law enforcement recently executed a search warrant at Omar's home. This action was linked to separate allegations about her citizenship. Critics argue she misrepresented her age to get citizenship faster. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has called for deportation if proven.

Omar and her allies deny any wrongdoing. They describe the current investigations as a partisan attack. They claim the scrutiny is political retaliation for opposing Trump. Despite these denials, the House Oversight Committee referred the case. The Ethics Committee is tasked with reviewing these allegations.

The Ethics Committee has not yet taken up Omar's specific case. A spokesperson confirmed the referral was made months ago. The committee was encouraged to review the allegations thoroughly.
